Ever since director Venu set his mind on bringing Ellamma to the big screen, the project has been travelling through unexpected twists. The story first reached Nani, who reportedly loved it, but due to ‘Paradise’ and other internal factors, the collaboration didn’t move ahead. After that, Nithiin’s name surfaced. Had his recent film become a blockbuster, Dil Raju’s production calculations would have taken a different turn... but fate had other plans. Later, the names of two well-known Tamil heroes also floated around. But in a twist no one saw coming, the buzz suddenly shifted to Devi Sri Prasad stepping in as the hero. DSP making his acting debut is still not officially confirmed, but the possibility itself has turned heads in the industry. Meanwhile, Keerthy Suresh was widely rumored to play the female lead in Ellamma.
However, during the recent Revolver Rita press event, she clarified that she is not part of the project... leaving fans shocked and confused. Did she step back because the hero would be a debutant like Devi? Or is there another undisclosed reason? Nothing is clear yet. Producer Dil Raju has been away from media glare for weeks, and Venu Yeldandi too is avoiding public events, focusing entirely on the project. From the looks of it, Ellamma may take more time to go on floors.
The team is reportedly considering budget-friendly adjustments to ensure production viability. Earlier, Dil Raju announced a film titled Sheenayya with VV Vinayak as the lead, but the project stopped even before regular shooting began. Fans now hope Ellamma doesn’t face a similar fate. After the success of Balagam, Venu has poured his heart into this script, and the entire industry is keenly waiting to see when Ellamma finally takes off.
