Even before its release, “The Girlfriend” starring Rashmika Mandanna is making waves in the film industry with talk of a potential National Award. Director Rahul Ravindran, who earlier won a National Award for Chi La Sow, is said to have crafted another heartfelt and mature story this time. After the experience of Manmadhudu 2, he seems to have returned to his signature storytelling style. The recently released trailer has piqued audience curiosity, promising a deep take on modern relationships with emotional depth. A few industry insiders who got an early look reportedly praised it as “a truly special film.”
Even the censor board is said to have appreciated the film’s content and execution. Rashmika’s performance, according to early viewers, is on another level — strong enough to be award-worthy. Her co-star Dheekshith Shetty has also earned appreciation for his realistic portrayal. Whether this buzz is genuine or just smart marketing will be known once the film hits theatres this Friday.
Produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Koppineedi, The Girlfriend is presented by Geetha Arts.
