Sri Gouri Priya, who impressed audiences with films such as Mail, Writer Padmabhushan and MAD, says Chennai Love Story has brought a significant change to her career. The film, in which she starred opposite Kiran Abbavaram, received a positive response in theatres and attracted repeat audiences. It is now streaming on SonyLIV from August 21.
Speaking in a recent interview, Sri Gouri Priya said becoming part of the film industry feels like a dream come true. Born and raised in Secunderabad, she grew up watching films in theatres and listening to songs. She said getting an opportunity to establish herself in the same industry has been a special experience and credited her success to the opportunities she received and God’s grace.
The actress also opened up about her role as Nivi, a woman dealing with heartbreak and turning to alcohol. She said the character was challenging, particularly a crematorium sequence that was physically and emotionally demanding. According to her, messages from viewers saying they saw themselves in Nivi made her feel respected as an actress. She believes the film connected with audiences because of its emotional core and hopes those who missed it in theatres will enjoy it on OTT.
