The ongoing dispute between producers and exhibitors in the Telugu film industry is now affecting the release discussions of ‘Peddi’. While producers prefer the rental payment model for single-screen theatres, exhibitors are demanding a percentage-sharing system similar to multiplexes. Reports earlier suggested that exhibitors even warned against screening ‘Peddi’ if the issue was not resolved.
Although the situation appeared to calm down after producer Dil Raju announced a committee to address the issue, differences between both sides still seem to continue. Reports now suggest that the matter has reached Megastar Chiranjeevi. A meeting between Chiranjeevi and the exhibitors’ association is expected this evening, mainly to discuss the release of ‘Peddi’ under a percentage-sharing model.
