In Indian cinema, franchises and cinematic universes are becoming more and more popular. While there are a number of high-profile franchises in Telugu cinema, smaller franchises have also had a significant influence. Sithara Entertainments' Tillu and MAD are two examples of this.
Two films from the Tillu franchise have been released thus far: DJ Tillu and Tillu Square. Both films were directed by Mallik Ram and Vimal Krishna, respectively, and starred Siddhu Jonnalagadda. Both movies did well at the box office and gained popularity among Telugu viewers. In light of this success, the producers have revealed that Tillu Cube, the third installment, will start production as soon as Siddhu finishes his current obligations.
Similar to this, the MAD franchise has released two movies, MAD and MAD Square, which were directed by Kalyan Shankar and starred Narne Nithin, Ram Nithin, and Sangeet Sobhan. Once the cast is available, work on the third movie, MAD Cube, will begin. Kalyan Shankar is anticipated to direct, and reports point to a possible crossover between Tillu Cube and MAD Cube. Kalyan Shankar had a promotional conversation with actor and producer Naga Vamsi ahead of his next film, Mass Jathara, which stars Ravi Teja and was directed by Bhanu Bhogavarapu. A Tillu-MAD crossover was suggested during the discussion.
Ravi Teja said he would be open to working together when asked about the possibility. With an emphasis on powerful, character-driven performances, he expressed interest in portraying parts akin to those played by Faahad Faasil in Aavesham. In a humorous suggestion, Kalyan Shankar proposed the title Mass MAD Cube for such a crossover.
