Suriya Enters Massive Pongal Release Race..

The Pongal/Sankranthi 2027 season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive festival box-office windows in recent years, with multiple major films already locking release dates. Actor Suriya has now joined the race with his 47th film directed by Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan, which is currently under production and is being planned for a Pongal 2027 release. Several other big projects, including a multi-starrer featuring Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram, Sharwanand’s upcoming film, and Balakrishna’s project with Gopichand Malineni, are also targeting the same festive slot.

Meanwhile, Suriya is enjoying strong momentum following the success of Karuppu. Before his Pongal release, he is expected to bring Vishwanath And Sons, a Telugu–Tamil bilingual directed by Venky Atluri, to theatres around July or August. With more than a year remaining for the festival season, the Pongal 2027 box office battle is expected to grow even bigger as more projects are likely to join the competition in the coming months.
