The actress who rose to stardom in Tollywood in a very short time that’s Sreeleela. Though she grew up in Karnataka and is technically a Kannada girl, her roots are Telugu, which is why Telugu audiences proudly see her as one of their own. Sreeleela’s debut film Pelli SandaD impressed audiences with her beauty, acting, and dance skills, opening many doors for her. Her second movie, Dhamaka, became a blockbuster and established her as a major star heroine.
She went on to act alongside several big stars, including Mahesh Babu. While opportunities have been pouring in, success hasn’t been on her side lately. In the last three years, Sreeleela has faced more than half a dozen flops. Her latest film, Mass Jathara, also turned out to be another disaster.
Of course, heroines can’t always be blamed for a movie’s failure, but in Sreeleela’s case, her repetitive roles and lack of strong performances have drawn negative remarks. Viewers have started to feel that any film featuring Sreeleela will have the same kind of glamorous, routine character good for songs and dances but not much acting depth. However, Sreeleela seems determined to change that perception with her upcoming film Parashakti. Directed by Sudha Kongara the acclaimed filmmaker behind Guru and Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra this film stars Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, with Atharvaa playing another key role.
The announcement video for Parashakti generated huge buzz, and Sreeleela’s look in it was widely praised. The promo hinted that this movie has strong content, and Sreeleela’s role appears to have significant scope for performance. She hopes this project will be a game-changer for her career, silencing all criticisms about her acting skills. The film was initially planned for a Sankranti release, but there are reports that it might get postponed.
