

Kollywood star Simbu and acclaimed director Vetri Maaran are teaming up for the highly anticipated action crime drama ‘Arasan’. Set in the world of Vetri Maaran’s acclaimed ‘Vada Chennai’ universe, the film is being developed as a standalone gangster story. Priyanka Arul Mohan and Andrea Jeremiah play the female leads, while Vijay Sethupathi is set to appear in a pivotal role. Produced by Kalaippuli S. Thanu under the V Creations banner, the film features music by Anirudh Ravichander.
Simbu recently shared a major update about the project at an event. He said ‘Arasan’ is one of the most special films of his career and revealed that his character will be portrayed from youth to old age, requiring him to appear in five to six different looks. He also said the team has completed filming for three looks so far. According to Simbu, Vetri Maaran is taking extra time to ensure quality and realism, and the film will not release during the 2027 Pongal season as previously expected. He added that a special ‘World of Arasan’ content piece will be released in theatres as a Diwali treat.
