Indian Army intelligence portrayal in films has come under criticism from Major SPS Oberoi, who expressed strong dissatisfaction over how military operations are shown in cinema. He said many films present exaggerated and unrealistic versions of army missions, deviating far from ground reality. He, however, acknowledged that ‘Dhurandhar’ is comparatively closer to reality in some aspects.
Speaking further, the Major made shocking remarks about Mahesh Babu’s film ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’. He said he does not generally enjoy army-based movies and even avoids watching them. He specifically pointed out a scene where the hero casually drinks coffee near a bomb, calling it unintentionally humorous and unrealistic.
He also recalled leaving the theatre midway after feeling that the army was being mocked. He mentioned laughing during the film and being warned by his friend about audience reaction. His comments have once again brought ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ into public discussion.
