Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has clarified his recent remarks about the current situation in the country after they sparked discussion and criticism. Speaking about his comments, Dutt said they were part of a scripted conversation designed to be humorous and light-hearted. He stressed that his intention was never to hurt, insult or offend anyone through his words.
Dutt said he wanted to deliver the speech in the style of his popular ‘Munna Bhai’ character, with a message centred on love, affection, unity and brotherhood. His remarks about the lack of peace in the country were made during a programme aired on Gandhi Jayanti and later went viral. Responding to a question about what he would do if he became Prime Minister for five minutes, Dutt also referred to Mahatma Gandhi’s three monkeys and jokingly suggested the need for a “fourth monkey” that would correct wrongdoing when it sees it.
