National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty is set to headline one of Indian cinema's most ambitious historical projects, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Initially conceived as a single feature film, the project has now been expanded into a two-part cinematic saga after the makers concluded that the life, achievements, military brilliance, and vision of Swarajya associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj deserved a much larger canvas. Reports suggest the combined budget of the franchise will exceed ₹500 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced.
Backed by Hombale Films, the production house behind blockbuster franchises such as Kantara and KGF, and directed by Sandeep Singh, the project is expected to be mounted on a grand scale. According to the current plan, the first installment is scheduled for release in 2028, while the concluding chapter will arrive in 2029. Rishab Shetty is expected to begin work on the film after completing his commitments to Jai Hanuman, with anticipation already building among movie enthusiasts across the country.
