Renowned director Ram Gopal Varma has been actively sharing his views on ‘Dhurandhar 2’ through a series of tweets in recent days. In his latest tweet, he made indirect remarks about Telugu star heroes, sparking widespread discussion. He described ‘Dhurandhar 2’ as a horror film, stating that while it may not frighten audiences, it has certainly shaken directors who have built their careers on mass masala and logic-defying films. He further noted that Ranveer Singh, through his performance, has redefined the conventional image of a hero by portraying a character with vulnerabilities in a realistic manner, thereby setting new standards.
Elaborating further, Varma criticized pan-India filmmakers for relying heavily on costumes, hairstyles and visual effects to create characters. In contrast, he praised director Aditya Dhar for crafting ‘Dhurandhar 2’ with a thoughtful and intelligent approach. He described the film’s massive success as a sign of the end of outdated filmmaking practices. He also suggested that directors currently working on or planning new projects should watch the film repeatedly and learn from it.
Varma’s comments have triggered extensive debate on social media. While some agree with his observations, others have expressed differing opinions. Although audiences have long accepted films lacking strong logic, Varma appears to suggest that movies like ‘Dhurandhar 2’ could bring a significant shift in audience expectations and thinking.
