Acclaimed filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, known for his gripping gangster dramas and political crime thrillers at the Indian box office, has announced the fourth installment of his iconic Sarkar franchise. The director made the announcement during the Red Lorry Film Festival held in Mumbai. While interacting with fans at the event, Varma confirmed that Sarkar 4 will begin shooting next month. He also revealed another upcoming project titled “The Syndicate”, jokingly stating that the film would wash away all the “sins” of his previous works. His comments have quickly become a hot topic in the film industry.
The first film Sarkar, released in 2005, became a trendsetter in Indian cinema with its intense political narrative and power-packed performances. Amitabh Bachchan portrayed the iconic character Subhash Nagre, while Abhishek Bachchan played a key role in the franchise. The sequel Sarkar Raj achieved major box-office success, with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan adding glamour and intensity to the series. Nearly a decade later, Sarkar 3 featured actors like Yami Gautam and Manoj Bajpayee. It remains uncertain whether Amitabh Bachchan will reprise his role in the fourth installment, though fans believe the franchise would be incomplete without him. Meanwhile, Varma also praised filmmaker Aditya Dhar, predicting that his upcoming project Dhurandhar 2 will be remarkable.
