A small Gujarati film with no major promotions and a budget of just ₹50 lakh is now creating history. ‘Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate’ has emerged as a surprise blockbuster, moving steadily toward the ₹100 crore mark. National media reports state that the film has already generated massive profits.
Released seven weeks ago with little expectation, the film collected only ₹26 lakh in its first week. The next two weeks also saw modest numbers. However, positive word-of-mouth completely changed the film’s trajectory. From the fourth week onward, collections grew strongly, and by the end of the sixth week, the film crossed ₹70 crore. It is now running successfully in its seventh week and is inching closer to ₹100 crore.
Until now, ‘Chaal Jeevi Laiye’ held the record for the highest-grossing Gujarati film with around ₹50 crore. ‘Laalo’ is on track to surpass that figure and become the first Gujarati film to enter the ₹100 crore club.
Directed by Ankit Sakhia, the film stars Reeva Rachh, Shruhad Goswami, Karan Joshi, and Mishti Kadecha in key roles. The film is set for a nationwide release on November 28, and its Hindi-dubbed version is already ready.
The film follows Laalo, a rickshaw driver who carries emotional scars from his past. One day, he unexpectedly finds himself stuck in a farmhouse. In that solitude, he experiences spiritual visions related to Lord Krishna’s leelas. These moments transform him, helping him overcome inner turmoil and his painful past. He then begins a new phase of life filled with hope and healing.
