The upcoming realistic violent love story Cockroach, directed by award-winning filmmaker P. Sunil Kumar Reddy, is all set for a grand theatrical release on March 6. Following his acclaimed films like Sontha Ooru, Gangaputhrulu, and Gulf, Sunil Kumar Reddy presents a romantic crime drama inspired by true events. The film stars Abhilash Sunkara, Premson, Naveen, and Teertha in lead roles and is produced by B. Bapiraju and Mutuki Nagasatyanarayana under the Sri Lakshmi Pictures banner. Based on real-life incidents in Visakhapatnam and Gajuwaka, Cockroach highlights the harsh realities of society through a gripping romantic crime narrative.
At a press meet in Hyderabad Film Chamber, producer B. Bapiraju said, “After several successful films with Sunil Kumar Reddy, this project is a unique experiment. We filmed risky sequences at natural locations, and the censor board has granted an ‘A’ certificate. Director Sunil Kumar Reddy has brought the script to life even better than imagined. This film offers something fresh to audiences tired of routine cinema.”
Director P. Sunil Kumar Reddy added, “I started my career as a journalist and wanted to showcase the realities I witnessed in society. Cockroach is based on real-life criminals’ stories with support from the police department. The film narrates a love story between a street prostitute and a criminal in a dark, bold style. Children and sensitive viewers should avoid this film, but it will resonate with audiences interested in society’s harsh truths.”
