The announcement of Dharman, starring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, created massive buzz from the very beginning. However, the project went through several changes, with multiple directors being linked to it, leading to widespread speculation. Addressing the media recently, Rajinikanth clarified all the rumors, putting an end to the long-standing uncertainty surrounding the film.
According to Rajinikanth, initial discussions were held with director K.S. Ravikumar, but the project did not move forward due to differences over the story. Later, Sundar C considered the film but couldn’t proceed because of prior commitments. Filmmaker Shibi Chakravarthy also developed a script that impressed everyone, but it was temporarily shelved due to the need for foreign shoots, high budget concerns, and certain sensitive elements. Finally, the team unanimously agreed on a story narrated by Ashwath Marimuthu, which is now being developed as Dharman. This clarity has further heightened expectations around the film.
