A controversy has erupted over actor Priyadarshi Pulikonda’s upcoming film Idupu Kayitam, which also stars newcomer Nagadurga. The film is said to prominently feature the Telangana dialect and culture, leading to debates on whether it should be dubbed into Andhra Telugu or released with subtitles. The issue quickly escalated on social media, triggering discussions between netizens of both Telugu states.
Writer Ganta Chakrapani responded strongly to trolls, stating that those who do not understand the dialect need not watch the film. Comedian Rahul Ramakrishna also reacted, supporting Chakrapani and criticizing attempts to politicize regional cinema. He said films should reflect native culture and language. The debate has further intensified online, with users divided over linguistic representation and regional pride.
