The world’s largest sound healing dome has been developed in Kozhikode, Kerala, combining music and architecture in a unique way. Designed under the supervision of A. R. Rahman, this structure is located at The Great Self Retreat Center. More than just an architectural marvel, the dome is designed to function as a therapeutic space aimed at improving mental well-being through sound healing techniques.
Rahman envisioned music not just as entertainment but as a form of healing therapy. The dome features advanced acoustic engineering to ensure uniform sound distribution throughout the space. Its spherical design prevents sound leakage and blocks external noise, while specialised lighting and visuals enhance the meditative experience. Health experts suggest that the vibrations generated inside the dome may help reduce stress and anxiety by stimulating the body’s energy centres.
