The ongoing dispute between producers and exhibitors over the percentage-based revenue-sharing system in Telangana theatres is expected to be discussed at the upcoming Telugu Film Chamber meeting. Telangana State Film Chamber Secretary Sridhar stated that exhibitors have been fighting for the percentage system since 2008. He said exhibitors had raised the issue again last year, but were requested to avoid discussions during the release period of Hari Hara Veera Mallu. Despite assurances that talks would be held within two months, no progress was made, prompting exhibitors to raise the matter once again.
Senior producer C. Kalyan said the issue would be discussed during Friday’s Film Chamber meeting and expressed hope that it would mark the first step toward a solution. He emphasized that producers, distributors, and exhibitors belong to the same family and urged everyone to avoid personal remarks. Sridhar also clarified that exhibitors have no connection with PEDDI and accused some producers of unnecessarily dragging the film into the controversy. Industry leaders stressed the importance of ensuring that cinema reaches audiences smoothly without disruptions.
