Veteran Tamil film industry personality K. Rajan, known for his work as a producer, actor, director, and writer, tragically died by suicide on Sunday after reportedly jumping from the Adyar Bridge in Chennai. He was 85 years old. Police suspect that age-related health issues and financial difficulties may have led to this unfortunate incident. Rajan began his journey in the film industry as a producer in 1983 and later expanded his career into direction, writing, and distribution. He also served as the President of the Chennai Distributors Association in 2000 and introduced his son Prabhukanth as an actor.
K. Rajan was often in the news for his controversial remarks about the Tamil film industry. He frequently made strong statements targeting several prominent personalities, which reportedly distanced him from many in the industry. His son Prabhukanth later turned director and made the film “LKG” in 2019. Rajan’s final on-screen appearance was in the 2023 film “Bakasuran.” His demise has left the Tamil film fraternity in deep shock and sorrow.
