Priyanka Chopra Cheers for Mary Kom as Boxing Icon Enters Bigg Boss 20

Five-time world champion boxer Mary Kom has entered Bigg Boss 20 as a contestant. The Hindi reality show began on September 6, and Mary Kom is set to spend the upcoming episodes inside the Bigg Boss house. Actress Priyanka Chopra, who shares a special bond with the boxing champion, released a video wishing her success on the show. Referring to the other contestants, Priyanka jokingly said that Mary is a source of pride for the country and advised them to stay alert because they might have to face her punches inside the house.

Priyanka Chopra played Mary Kom in the boxer’s 2014 biopic directed by Omung Kumar. Recalling her experience of making the film, Priyanka had described it as one of the most challenging projects of her career, as she had to portray Mary’s journey as a fighter, homemaker and mother. She also praised Mary for overcoming numerous challenges after coming from a small rural background to achieve success at the highest level in sports. The film, produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, received the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
