The much awaited film ‘Varanasi’, directed by S. S. Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu, has received an exciting update. Actor Prakash Raj has revealed details about his role. Earlier, there were rumours that he would play Mahesh Babu’s father in the film. However, Prakash Raj clarified that he will be seen as a devoted follower of Lord Shiva. He also mentioned that he is acting in a key role in the Hindi film ‘Drishyam 3’.
Prakash Raj previously worked with Rajamouli in ‘Vikramarkudu’ and has acted alongside Mahesh Babu in films like ‘Okkadu’, ‘Rajakumarudu’ and ‘Guntur Kaaram’. Now, they are reuniting for this grand mythological project. The film is being made on a very high budget and will also feature Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in important roles.
The next shooting schedule will begin in Georgia. There are also plans to shoot an important schedule in Antarctica. If that happens, ‘Varanasi’ could become the first Indian film to shoot in that challenging location. The movie is produced by K. L. Narayana and S. S. Karthikeya and is scheduled for release on April 7, 2027.
