Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu has responded to the trolling faced by actors over their pronunciation and accents while speaking South Indian languages. She said it is natural to face difficulties with accents when working in a different language and pointed out that learning a language and speaking it naturally cannot happen overnight. Parvathy said she believes audiences expect natural performances and that she is interested in learning new languages when taking up roles in other industries.
The actress said she is willing to undergo training to deliver dialogues convincingly in a new language. However, if she feels that she cannot do justice to a character, she would prefer to turn down the role and would be comfortable with a dubbing artist delivering the dialogues in her place. She also revealed that she has previously walked away from films for this reason. Known for choosing performance-oriented roles, Parvathy has continued to appear in films regardless of their box-office outcomes. Her recent Malayalam thriller ‘Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar’ has also received a positive response.
