The horror thriller ‘Obsession’ directed by Curry Barker is creating a historic box office run, defying all trends. The film opened with $17 million in its first weekend, rose to $23 million in its second, and further climbed to $26.4 million in its third weekend, a rare upward trend in box office performance.
The film has now crossed $100 million domestically and $148 million worldwide, all made on a micro budget of just $750,000. It has become Focus Features’ highest-grossing film domestically and the first since 1982’s “E.T.” to grow in both its second and third weekends, proving the massive demand for original horror content.
