“Unless we constantly try new things, how will we discover something new? That is the approach I follow in my acting journey as well,” said Mrunal Thakur. Having won the hearts of Telugu audiences with films like Sita Ramam and Hi Nanna, she is now set for another fresh attempt with the film Dacoit, in which she stars alongside Adivi Sesh. Speaking ahead of the film’s release on the 10th of this month, she stated that stories with unique backdrops and challenging roles are what attract her the most. She described Dacoit as an action-driven love story, where she plays the role of Saraswati. She explained that the core of the story revolves around how a Romeo-and-Juliet-like love story transforms into that of dacoits. Mrunal added that she enjoys taking up roles that surprise the audience and in this film, she had the opportunity to portray a character that even surprised her.
Highlighting the film’s blend of action and romance, Mrunal said that the combination makes it stand out. Although she has performed some action sequences, they are not typical heroic fight scenes but involve car chases. She mentioned that she enjoys driving and will be seen driving in several sequences in the film. She also praised Adivi Sesh for presenting a new dimension of his performance and expressed her happiness at sharing screen space with accomplished actors like Prakash Raj and Anurag Kashyap. She appreciated the coordinated efforts of director Shaneil Deo and producer Supriya Yarlagadda along with the entire team. Mrunal further stated that breaking language barriers is her ultimate goal as an actor and she is consciously choosing films across Telugu, Hindi and Marathi languages to present diverse stories and emotions to audiences.
