Malavika Sharma, who gained recognition in Telugu cinema with films such as Nela Ticket, Red and Harom Hara, is now making her entry into Malayalam cinema. She will be seen in the highly anticipated film Khalifa, headlined by Prithviraj Sukumaran. With the film completing its shoot and scheduled for release on August 20, the team has intensified its promotional activities. During a media interaction in Kerala, however, Malavika reportedly faced an uncomfortable moment when a reporter asked her a personal question unrelated to the film. When asked whether she had tried beef after coming to Kerala and whether she liked it, Malavika clarified that she is a strict vegetarian and had not tried it.
A video clip of the exchange has now sparked discussion among netizens. While some criticised the reporter for asking a personal question about an actress’s food preferences instead of focusing on the film and her performance, others argued that such questions are common during promotional events. Several users also recalled a similar incident involving actress Priya Prakash Varrier, who had reportedly expressed displeasure over a question about her outfit during a promotional interaction. The latest incident has once again triggered a debate over media boundaries and the kind of questions celebrities face during film promotions in Kerala.
