Nayi Naveli Marks a New Bollywood Push After South Indian Hits

Music composer and actor GV Prakash Kumar is enjoying a strong run in South Indian cinema, with Viswanath and Sons, Irumudi and Mandadi reportedly giving him a hat-trick of successes. After this encouraging phase, he is now looking to make a stronger mark in Bollywood with the upcoming horror comedy Nayi Naveli, which stars National Award-winning actress Yami Gautam in the lead role. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on October 16.

Although GV Prakash has previously worked on Hindi film projects, he has not often handled the complete music composition for a Bollywood feature. He contributed to the score for the Gangs of Wasseypur films and composed songs for Joker and Ugly. With Nayi Naveli, he has reportedly composed both the songs and the background score. The film is produced by National Award-winning filmmaker Aanand L. Rai, while Maari director Balaji Mohan is making his Bollywood debut with the project. GV Prakash also received a National Film Award for his background score for Amaran. If Nayi Naveli performs well, it could strengthen his presence in the Hindi film industry and lead to more opportunities.
