Producer Naga Vamsi, who is always a hot topic on social media, has made some fresh statements. During the title release of Epic First Semester, starring Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya, he made a few interesting comments.
When asked about competing with big stars like Chiranjeevi, Ravi Teja, and Prabhas during the Sankranti season, he replied that their film is comparatively small and hoped that the audience would show sympathy and support it. However, he later added that such sympathy-driven statements don’t really work anymore. Requesting is fine, he said, but people should also look at the logic behind it.
Realistically, Naveen Polishetty doesn’t have the capacity to go head-to-head with such senior stars. But if his timing and content work perfectly together, he is capable of taking a film to great heights. Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya is a perfect example. Jathi Ratnalu also belongs to the same category—films that benefited from releasing during a low-competition period.
However, the situation for Anaganaga Oka Raju is completely different. The biggest question now is whether the film will even secure the number of theatres it is aiming for. Even with the support of distributors like Dil Raju, audience preferences at the ground level depend on many unpredictable factors.
Another important point: Anaganaga Oka Raju is releasing on January 14, right at the end of the festival season. By then, Raja Saab, Shankar Varaprasad, and Jananayakudu would have released and, if they get positive talk, most screens will be locked for them. Adding to the challenge, Ravi Teja’s Bharatha Mahashayulaku Vignapthi is releasing the same day as Naveen Polishetty’s film. As a bonus, Sivakarthikeyan’s Parashakthi is also arriving. Their promotional content has already created solid buzz.
In such tight competition, a comedy-based film like Anaganaga Oka Raju would have gained more advantage with a solo release. There are even murmurs that an undisclosed OTT angle might be part of the strategy.
