A book titled ‘The Empress’, based on the life of late actress Sridevi, is being written by author Dheeraj U. Kumar, with actress Priyanka Chopra recently announcing details of the book on Sridevi’s birth anniversary. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has also contributed a chapter to the book. In a recent interview, Varma said he was unaware of the title ‘The Empress’ and felt that ‘Screen Queen’ would have been a more fitting title for Sridevi’s biography. He also remarked that the authors had told him his chapter was the best, adding humorously that perhaps they say the same thing to everyone who contributed.
Varma also recalled his professional association with Sridevi and praised her exceptional acting abilities. Speaking about their work on ‘Kshana Kshanam’, he said Sridevi could deliver 15 to 20 different expressions for a single scene and described working with her as an extremely comfortable experience. He also praised her iconic Charlie Chaplin sequence in ‘Mr. India’. Recalling their first meeting at her Chennai home, Varma said her presence felt extraordinary and expressed his wish that Sridevi could return to Earth at least once.
