Superstar Rajinikanth may be the biggest attraction of ‘Jailer 2’, but actor Namo Narayana is emerging as one of the film’s unexpected highlights. Playing Pazhakkadai Moorthy, popularly known as Moorthy Anna, he has impressed audiences with his natural comic timing, distinctive dialogue delivery and expressive performance. Since the film’s release on October 15, 2026, the character has become a talking point among moviegoers. A chess sequence featuring Moorthy and Suraj Venjaramoodu’s character, Dileep, has drawn particular attention for its mix of witty exchanges, dark humour and unexpected comedy. The growing appreciation has prompted fans to call for a standalone comedy film centred on Moorthy Anna.
Namo Narayana, who hails from Madurai in Tamil Nadu, began his professional career as a software engineer before entering the film industry. He initially worked as an executive producer on the 2009 Tamil film ‘Naadodigal’, where filmmaker Samuthirakani and actor Sasikumar reportedly encouraged him to take up an acting role. He went on to appear in films such as ‘Easan’, ‘Poraali’, ‘Kutti Puli’, ‘Nimirndhu Nil’, ‘Komban’, ‘Rajini Murugan’, ‘Appa’ and ‘Raayan’, along with Malayalam projects including ‘Thappana’ and ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’. After years of playing supporting characters, his performance in ‘Jailer 2’ has brought him wider recognition. Whether the popularity of Moorthy Anna leads to a spin-off remains uncertain, but the character has clearly made a strong impression on audiences.
