When Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi and Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth bring their films to the box office at the same time, the excitement among moviegoers is bound to rise. Their films previously faced competition around the release of Bhola Shankar and Jailer. Now, a similar clash could be on the cards during the Dasara and Sankranti seasons. Jailer 2 has already been officially announced for an October 15 release. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the makers of Chiranjeevi’s long-delayed Vishwambhara are considering an October 16 Dasara release. More clarity on the film’s release is expected around Chiranjeevi’s birthday on August 22, potentially setting up a one-day gap between the two big-ticket releases.
The rivalry could reportedly continue during Sankranti 2027 as well. Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Dharman, produced by Kamal Haasan, is said to be under consideration for a Pongal release. At the same time, Chiranjeevi’s upcoming project Mega 158, directed by Bobby Kolli, is reportedly being planned for the Sankranti season. If both plans materialise, audiences could witness another major clash between the two veteran stars. However, release dates of big-budget films often change at the last minute, so the currently discussed dates cannot be considered final until official announcements are made.
