The highly anticipated film Varanasi, bringing together superstar Mahesh Babu and visionary director S. S. Rajamouli, continues to build massive excitement among fans and the film industry alike. A grand event held earlier at Ramoji Film City officially revealed the film’s title and confirmed its release year. Now, the makers have released a brief yet impactful glimpse from a “Ramayana episode,” making it clear that the film is firmly set for a 2027 release.
The short clip has taken social media by storm, with striking visuals and Rajamouli’s signature high-speed slow-motion shots grabbing attention. Expectations have soared following the release.
More than a conventional adventure film, Varanasi is said to blend time travel with mythological elements. Mahesh Babu appears as Rudra, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, in a role unlike anything he has played before. The story reportedly travels across the globe before culminating in a major turning point in the holy city of Varanasi.
The Ramayana-themed portion, set against the Treta Yuga backdrop, was shot over nearly 60 days, highlighting the film’s massive scale. Shot in IMAX format with a 1.43:1 aspect ratio, the film is expected to set new benchmarks in Indian cinema.
With music by M. M. Keeravani, cinematography by P. S. Vinod, and a cast that includes Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, Varanasi is gearing up for a grand worldwide release, reportedly planned for April 9, 2027.
