

The Madras High Court has dismissed the petition filed by Mythri Movie Makers seeking to lift the stay imposed on the use of songs composed by renowned music director Isaignini Ilayaraja and not remixing them. Mythri Movie Makers produced the films ‘Good Bad Ugly’ and ‘Dude’ starring Ajith and Pradeep Ranganathan. In these, Ilayaraja’s songs were used. Ilayaraja is fighting a legal battle to have these removed. This dispute is pending in court.
In this context, a hearing was held in the High Court on Wednesday on the petition filed by Mythri Movie Makers seeking to lift the stay imposed on the use of Ilayaraja’s songs. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the High Court dismissed the petition of Mythri Movie Makers. Also, Justice Senthil Kumar ruled that Ilayaraja has the right to block the unauthorized use and remixing of his songs and adjourned the case for further hearing to January 6.
