

Legendary filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, who carved out a unique place in Indian cinema with his innovative storytelling, was given his final farewell in Chennai. The 94-year-old director passed away on October 3 at Kauvery Hospital after reportedly battling age-related and health complications. His death left the Telugu and Tamil film industries, as well as cinema lovers across the country, deeply saddened.
The filmmaker’s funeral was held at the Nesapakkam crematorium in Chennai. Before the final rites, his mortal remains were kept at his residence in Virugambakkam for family members, friends and film personalities to pay their last respects. Across a career spanning more than six decades, Singeetam worked in multiple languages and explored unconventional stories and filmmaking techniques. Films such as Pushpaka Vimanam, Aditya 369, Bhairava Dweepam, Mayuri and Michael Madana Kama Rajan remain enduring examples of his creativity. Though he is no longer physically present, his films and distinctive approach to storytelling are expected to continue inspiring generations of audiences.
