The latest film Tere Ishk Mein starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon is all set for its digital premiere. Released in theatres in November last year, the film is scheduled to begin streaming on Netflix from the 23rd of this month. However, just days before its OTT launch, the movie has landed in legal trouble.
Eros International has approached the Bombay High Court, alleging that Tere Ishk Mein was promoted as a sequel to their 2013 blockbuster Raanjhanaa without obtaining proper permission. The company accused the makers, production house Colour Yellow and director Anand L. Rai of violating copyright laws and damaging the film’s brand value. Eros has demanded ₹84 crore as compensation, stating that certain characters from Raanjhanaa were carried forward into the new film. Notably, Raanjhanaa, also directed by Anand L. Rai and starring Dhanush, was re-released last year, during which the altered ending sparked controversy between the filmmakers and Eros International.
