Kollywood Industry Pins Big Hopes on CM Vijay for Cinema Reforms

With Kollywood star Vijay becoming the Chief Minister, the Tamil film industry is placing huge expectations on his leadership and hoping for long-awaited reforms in the cinema sector. Several actors and filmmakers believe that having someone from the industry in power could help address long-pending issues faced by the film fraternity. Actor Vijay Sethupathi reportedly urged the Chief Minister to take steps towards increasing movie ticket prices and also requested the launch of a government-backed OTT platform, similar to suggestions previously made by Kamal Haasan.

Meanwhile, actor Vishal also voiced concerns regarding the film industry after Vijay assumed office as Chief Minister. He criticised the appointment of a person unrelated to cinema as the cinematography minister and requested Vijay to directly oversee the cinema department himself. Vishal stated that only someone connected to the industry could truly understand and resolve its challenges. Following Vijay’s rise to power, several Kollywood celebrities and fans celebrated the development, expressing optimism about the future of Tamil cinema.
