The makers of Suriya’s action drama ‘Karuppu’ have officially responded to the controversy surrounding a dialogue in the film that allegedly referred to legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja. Production house Dream Warrior Pictures clarified that there was absolutely no intention to offend or disrespect the veteran musician in any manner. The team stated that the dialogue was part of a broader satirical context and not a personal remark targeting Ilaiyaraaja.
Expressing regret over the issue, the makers announced that the controversial portion would either be removed or modified in future versions and subsequent releases of the film. The production house also praised Ilaiyaraaja’s extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema and music, calling him an inspiration to generations. Meanwhile, ‘Karuppu’, starring Suriya, Trisha and RJ Balaji, continues to perform strongly at the box office despite its delayed release.
