After the disappointing performances of Kanguva and Retro, all eyes were on Suriya’s latest film Karuppu. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film stars Trisha Krishnan opposite Suriya and has received strong positive reviews from audiences. Despite releasing a day later than planned, the movie has shown impressive growth at the box office in both Tamil and Telugu markets.
Karuppu opened with ₹15.50 crore on May 15 and witnessed a major jump to ₹24.1 crore on day two. On Sunday, collections further increased to nearly ₹28.50 crore. Within three days, the film collected ₹68 crore in India and another ₹42 crore overseas, taking its worldwide opening weekend gross beyond ₹120 crore. The film has now become the highest-grossing movie in the Suriya-Trisha combination and is emerging as one of the biggest Tamil hits of 2026.
