Kareena Kapoor Opens Up About Education Regret, Career Choices

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has opened up about her decision to leave her education and pursue a career in acting, admitting that she still regrets not completing her studies. The actress, who has entertained audiences for more than two decades with diverse roles, is now exploring different stories on both the big screen and OTT platforms. Kareena and Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film Daayra, in which she plays a police officer. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on September 18. In a recent interview, Kareena said she stopped studying after Class 11 despite having the opportunity to continue her education. She wanted to prove herself as an actor and follow her own aspirations. She also said that her experience has made her encourage her children to complete their education before choosing their own career paths. Kareena recalled feeling emotional when UNICEF approached her to support girls’ education in India, as she continues to carry the regret of not completing her own studies.

Kareena also expressed her frustration with the way films are often promoted based on their expected box-office potential. She said she does not want her age to determine the roles she chooses and hopes to continue working and taking up varied characters even when she turns 75. According to her, choosing strong stories and filmmakers is more important than following career advice or industry formulas. Kareena wants to collaborate with directors who can challenge her and help her explore new sides as an actor. Although audiences often expect to see her in light-hearted and entertaining films, she does not want to limit herself to one type of role. She believes that an actor needs to make careful choices and constantly explore different characters.
