We’re living in the OTT era now — a time when audiences rush to watch new releases online just weeks after their theatrical run. Gone are the days when people waited for satellite TV premieres. But Kantara Chapter 1 is proving that the big screen magic still rules. Even though the film started streaming on Amazon Prime four days ago, it continues to trend on BookMyShow. On average, over 1,500 tickets are being sold every hour! That’s an incredible feat for a film that’s been in theatres for over a month.
According to trade reports, the Hindi version alone collected over ₹2 crore last weekend. Clearly, fans still prefer the grand theatre experience over watching it at home. Kantara recently crossed the ₹800 crore mark and is now inching toward ₹1,000 crore worldwide. Analysts say that if the OTT release had been delayed, collections might have soared even higher. In Karnataka, the movie continues to perform strongly — with several houseful shows across Bengaluru, Belagavi, and Hubballi. Exhibitors expect it to run successfully for another 50 days.
Kantara once again proves that when the content is powerful, audiences will return to theatres — no matter how strong the OTT wave is.
