Kalki Was Just a Sample? The Bigger Story Is Yet to Come

Director Nag Ashwin has shared interesting insights about the world created in Kalki 2898 AD and its potential for future stories. According to him, Indian mythology contains several elements that can be connected with futuristic science-fiction narratives. Kalki 2898 AD was envisioned as an initial step towards creating such a world, while its success has demonstrated the possibilities of developing large-scale science-fiction films rooted in Indian culture. The recognition received by the film for Production Design at the National Film Awards also brought happiness to the team.

The film presented a futuristic world set in 2898 AD, with Kashi serving as one of its important settings and the story drawing from the mythology surrounding Vishnu’s final avatar, Kalki. Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Shobana and Disha Patani played key roles. Kalki 2 is currently in production and is expected to expand the story introduced in the first part. Kamal Haasan’s Yaskin is likely to have a larger role, while the sequel is expected to explore the Kalki avatar and provide answers to several questions left open in the first film.
