The first installment of Kalki 2898AD ended on a cliffhanger, creating unprecedented hype among audiences and trade circles for the sequel. Another major reason for anticipation is the reunion of legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan after four decades, having last shared the screen in the 1985 film Geraftaar.
The Prabhas-starrer sequel has reportedly begun shooting in Hyderabad. Amitabh Bachchan will reprise Ashwatthama, while Kamal Haasan appears as Supreme Yaskin, a totalitarian god-king. Their epic confrontation is expected to be the key narrative driver. Set in a dystopian world inspired by the Mahabharata, the film is directed by Nag Ashwin with the core cast and crew returning. After Deepika Padukone’s exit, Sai Pallavi is being considered for the pivotal role of Sumathi.
