‘Kalki 2’ Rumours Put to Rest...Nag Ashwin Clarifies Deepika’s Role

Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, emerged as one of the biggest box-office successes of his career. The sci-fi epic featured Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone in key roles, with Deepika’s character Sumathi playing a crucial part in the story. After the first film, several reports claimed that Deepika would be replaced in Kalki 2, with names such as Sai Pallavi and Alia Bhatt being linked to the role.

Nag Ashwin has now addressed the speculation surrounding the sequel’s casting. He clarified that Deepika’s character will not be replaced by another actress in Kalki 2. The director has also indicated that the character of Sumathi remains important to the sequel, while the identity of the actress associated with the role has not been officially announced. With this clarification, the ongoing rumours about Sai Pallavi or Alia Bhatt replacing Deepika have been put to rest for now.
