The periodic drama ‘Kaantha’, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati, is set for a worldwide theatrical release on November 14. The film has completed its censor formalities and received a UA certificate. Makers have also locked the final runtime at 2 hours 40 minutes, suggesting a detailed and powerful narrative set in the 1950s. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the film explores an intense ego conflict between two artists, indicating that this is not a surface-level story but a deeply layered drama.
Early reports from censor screenings are creating strong buzz. As hinted in the trailer, the film’s biggest strength is said to be its performances. The scenes between Dulquer Salmaan and Samuthirakani, who play a mentor–disciple duo, are reportedly major highlights. Their emotional and ego-driven confrontations are expected to hold the audience's attention throughout. Actress Bhagyashree Borse, who plays the character “Kumari,” is also said to have delivered a surprising and impactful performance, standing her ground alongside the two powerhouse actors.
The biggest surprise, however, is linked to Rana Daggubati, who produced the film. Although he plays a key role in the story, his character has intentionally not been revealed in any promotional material. This hidden character is expected to serve as a major surprise element in the film. Overall, early talk suggests that Kaantha will be an intense, performance-driven cinematic experience. With only a few hours left for its release, all eyes are on how this black-and-white period drama will captivate audiences in theatres.
