‘Jailer 2’ Bookings Slow Down Despite High Expectations

Advance bookings for Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 are gradually picking up in India. Full-fledged domestic advance bookings are expected to begin tomorrow, while overseas bookings opened a few days ago. However, the initial trend has surprised trade observers, as the much-awaited sequel is trailing behind Rajinikanth’s previous film, Coolie.

Five days before its release, Coolie had reportedly earned $3.78 million through overseas advance bookings, while Jailer 2 has collected $1.62 million at the same stage. Given the sequel’s high expectations and the premium prices at which its distribution rights have reportedly been sold, the film’s booking momentum in the coming days will be closely watched. Directed by Nelson and backed by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is expected to see whether its advances gain pace closer to release.
