‘Irumudi’ Is Not About Sabarimala Yatra- Director Shiva Nirvana

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s upcoming film Irumudi, directed by Shiva Nirvana, has been generating interest with its distinctive storyline. While the film was initially believed to revolve around the Sabarimala pilgrimage, director Shiva Nirvana has clarified that the story is not directly connected to the Sabarimala Yatra. Instead, the narrative focuses on the 41-day Ayyappa Deeksha undertaken by the protagonist and the changes, challenges and circumstances he experiences during the period. The conflict arising from his decision to give up alcohol as part of the Deeksha is reportedly a key element of the story, giving the film a strong personal and emotional dimension.

Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film stars Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead, while Baby Nakshatra plays Ravi Teja’s daughter. G.V. Prakash Kumar is composing the music. The story is said to explore the protagonist’s emotional journey and personal struggles during his Deeksha rather than presenting a conventional devotional narrative. The clarification from Shiva Nirvana has also put to rest some of the speculation surrounding the film’s storyline. Irumudi is scheduled to release in theatres on August 21.
