Actor Imran Khan is reportedly preparing to approach the Bombay High Court to challenge a notice issued by Mumbai Police asking him to leave India by October 28, 2026. The notice was reportedly issued after he participated in a protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. According to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report, his lawyer, Zulfiqar Memon, is expected to file a petition on Friday or Monday.
Imran Khan’s legal team is expected to argue that he holds an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card and that Indian law does not prohibit him from participating in protests. His lawyers reportedly consider the direction to leave the country an excessively severe measure. On October 10, he took part in a protest at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, where demonstrators called for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Police reportedly detained him briefly before issuing the notice following complaints against him. The High Court’s response to the proposed petition remains to be seen.
