Actor Sivaji’s comments on actresses’ costumes during the pre-release event of Dandora sparked a major controversy. Following strong criticism, he released an apology video, stating that he was apologizing only for using two objectionable words while standing by the rest of his remarks. Complaints were later filed with the Women’s Commission, after which Sivaji received notices and met the Commission Chairperson to present his explanation.
Speaking to the media, Sivaji expressed disappointment over the reaction from the film industry, alleging that certain industry members conspired against him despite receiving public support outside. He clarified that his intention was to speak about women’s safety and admitted to a verbal slip, for which he had already apologized. Sivaji stated that he was being unfairly targeted and added that he was not concerned even if he lost film opportunities. Emphasizing that he comes from a farming background, he said he could return to agriculture if needed, asserting that his stance was driven by self-respect, not arrogance, and urged everyone to put the issue to rest.
