The team of Karuppu, titled ‘Veerabhadrudu’ in Telugu, has issued a public apology to legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja following controversy over a scene in the film. Starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan and directed by RJ Balaji, the movie recently emerged as a box-office success. However, a sequence referencing copyright disputes over film songs sparked criticism, with fans and film analysts alleging that the dialogues indirectly mocked Ilaiyaraaja.
As the controversy intensified online, production house Dream Warrior Pictures released an official statement expressing deep respect for Ilaiyaraaja and his immense contribution to Indian cinema. The makers clarified that the dialogues were intended purely as part of a humorous situation and were never meant to insult the veteran composer. Nevertheless, apologizing for any hurt caused, the team confirmed that the controversial scene and related dialogues would be completely removed from all future screenings of the film.
