Known for giving priority to performance over glamour, Aishwarya Rajesh has carved a special space for herself with strong, women-oriented roles. Her portrayal of Bhagyalakshmi, Venkatesh’s wife in the blockbuster Sankranthiki Vasthunam, received wide appreciation and marked a new phase in her career. Released during Sankranthi last year, the film emerged as a massive commercial success, leading to strong speculation that Aishwarya’s career graph would rise sharply with big-banner offers.
However, the actress has now revealed in a recent interview that things did not unfold as expected. Aishwarya said she hoped the film would bring more opportunities, especially in big-hero projects, but such offers did not materialize. She expressed that filmmakers might still be unsure of her potential as a mainstream heroine. Despite this, she said she remains content choosing strong, content-driven roles. Recalling that she played the role of a mother to two children at just 21 in Kaaka Muttai, Aishwarya stated she has always been open to diverse characters. Daughter of actor Rajesh from the 1983 film Rendu Jella Seetha, she entered Telugu cinema with Kousalya Krishnamurthy, the remake of her Tamil hit Kanaa. After films like World Famous Lover and Tuck Jagadish, Sankranthiki Vasthunam became her first major commercial success. She is currently acting in O… Sukumari opposite Thiruveer, while continuing to remain busy in Kollywood.
